Extensive Support Needs Preliminary Education Specialist Credential

The Extensive Support Needs Preliminary Education Specialist Credential authorizes individuals to teach students in transitional kindergarten through 22 years old in special education settings. Candidates can complete the program in two semesters with additional time during the summer or winter session.
Students are encouraged to attend a program overview in the year prior to admittance. Overview schedules can be found at the Department of Special Education website.

Admission Requirements
Applicants to the Extensive Support Needs Preliminary Education Specialist Credential are required to apply to the university/program through Cal State Apply. Current CSUF undergraduate students still must submit a new Cal State Apply application to the program to be considered for admission into the Extensive Support Needs Preliminary Education Specialist Credential Program. Cal State Apply charges a $70 application fee. A separate department fee of $50 is also required. Applicants can pay for the $50 Department Fee online via https://coeapps.fullerton.edu/atedpay.
Applicants are considered for full admission into the Extensive Support Needs Preliminary Education Specialist Credential once they have met the following criteria: completed the basic skills requirement; completed the subject matter competency; and exhiti a professional aptitude and disposition.
