Degree Requirements (24-25 units)
In addition to completing the prerequisites for the minor, students must meet with the Health Professions adviser and prepare an academic plan to guide their course choices and path towards graduation.
Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better to stay in the minor. Furthermore, students must earn a “B” (3.0) or better in all courses that are taken for the minor. This requirement is necessary for students to have a competitive GPA for successful matriculation into professional schools. If a student’s cumulative GPA drops below a 3.0, the student will be notified and allowed to remain in the program for a single semester. Students who fail to raise their cumulative GPA to above a 3.0 will be dropped from the program. Once dropped from the program, a student can appeal to the Health Professions Committee for reinstatement once their cumulative GPA is above 3.0. Students may also petition to replace a required course in which they received a grade lower than a “B-.” Typically the replacement course must be a more advanced course in the same department.
At least 12 units must be unique to the minor, 6 units of which must be upper-division courses.
