Risk management is essential to individuals, business organizations, the environment and even society as a whole. The Minor in Risk Management and Insurance provides students with knowledge related to personal and commercial risks, and assists their future careers in corporate risk management, actuarial analysis, underwriting, claims adjusting, financial planning and insurance distribution. Students learn about and acquire skills in theory and practice of risk identification, risk evaluation, risk control, risk financing, insurance operation and practical applications of personal and commercial insurance. The program’s coursework is also linked to and assists students in obtaining professional designations in risk management, insurance and actuarial science.
