The Minor in Political Science complements other areas of study for which a focus on political systems and thought can be helpful (e.g., American Studies, business, communications, economics, history, identity studies, journalism and teaching). As part of the minor, students will explore introductory methods of studying of politics, as well as advanced concepts in American politics, cross-national politics and political theory.

Required (6 units)

Upper-Division Requirements (12 units)

Select a minimum of one course in each of the following categories: American Politics, Cross-National Politics, Political Theory. The remaining 3 units may be taken from the afore-mentioned categories or any other upper-division political science course. One upper-division course must be at the 400 level.

American Politics (3 units minimum)

Cross-National Politics (3 units minimum)

Political Theory (3 units minimum)

Additional Information

Twelve units must be distinct from those used for a student’s first major.
