Aging Science Minor

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Degree Programs

(21 UNITS)

The Aging Science minor provides both theoretical and applied foundations in the science of aging. The minor trains STEM majors to integrate cutting-edge aging knowledge into their respective fields and teaches students to think critically about the implications of their work for aging populations in the United States, as well as globally. The population is rapidly aging world wide; however, there is a shortage of specialists prepared to address the needs of aging societies. As a complement to any STEM degree, the Aging Science minor enhances the competitiveness of STEM students applying to graduate or medical school.

The Aging Science Minor is funded in part by a grant from the National Institutes of Health (A Multidimensional Aging Science Program: MSTEM Scholars Trained in Aging Research,” or MSTEM STAR). Currently, only students participating in the MSTEM STAR program are eligible for the minor.
