Introduction 

Economics is a powerful discipline that equips students with the ability to understand and analyze complex issues affecting the world. By studying economics, students gain essential skills in critical thinking, data analysis and problem-solving, preparing them to address the challenges faced by businesses, policymakers and society.

Economics majors develop a unique ability to connect industry trends and market shifts to the broader economic landscape. This skill set allows economists to tackle a wide range of analytical challenges, making them invaluable in various industries. Economics majors achieve significant career success and typically enjoy higher early-career wages than they would have with their second-choice major.

An economics degree opens doors to a wide range of career paths in finance, consulting, government, utilities, health care administration, insurance, non-profits and international organizations. Additionally, many economics graduates pursue advanced degrees in fields like law, public administration, education, political science and business, further enhancing their career prospects.

The Department of Economics offers a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Economics. Students can also pursue concentrations in Business Economics or Business and Economics Analytics within the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.
