BIOL 325 - Principles of Evolution (3) Mechanisms of evolutionary change, including mutation, selection, migration and drift. Introduces methods for studying adaptations. Sexual selection, kin selection and evolution of life history strategies. Uses modern examples, including antibiotic resistance, to illustrate the relevance of understanding evolution.
Prerequisites: Biology majors: BIOL 251 and BIOL 253L , or BIOL 273 ; BIOL 252 and BIOL 254L , or BIOL 274 . All other majors: BIOL 151 or BIOL 172 ; BIOL 152 or BIOL 171 ; BIOL 252 and BIOL 254L , or BIOL 274 . All prerequisites must be completed with a “C” (2.0) or better.
