Prerequisites: CHEM 120A or CHEM 123, MATH 150B and PHYS 225. Energy and its transformation; heat and work; conservation of mass and energy, system properties, irreversibility and availability. Ideal gases, heat engines and refrigeration (both ideal and actual), equipment selection and sizing.
