Bachelor of Arts in Ethnic Studies
The Bachelor of Arts in Ethnic Studies includes three concentrations, from which students select one – African American Studies, Chicana and Chicano Studies or Asian American Studies. Through interdisciplinary study, the degree prepares students for further training in a wide range of fields, including education, social work, law, community development, and health.
In addition to the requirements for the major, students must meet all other university requirements for a bachelor’s degree. Please consult the Graduation Requirements for the Bachelor’s Degree section in this catalog for complete information.

The African American Studies concentration provides students with a well-rounded, interdisciplinary education allowing them to have successful careers in a variety of professions. The degree prepares its alumni for both graduate study, and careers in a variety of professional fields, such as education, law, business, social work and more. Upper Division (12 units)
Select from AFAM courses. Up to three units may be taken outside the department in consultation with the adviser.
