Admission Requirements
Upon admission to the university as an art major, students are placed in the Bachelor of Arts (BA) category, whether entering as a freshman or transferring from another college/university. To qualify and apply to become a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) major, students must pass ART 103, ART 104, ART 107A and ART 107B with a combined GPA of 3.0 or better. In their first semester of residency, transfer students who have completed the same specific 12 units of the Lower-Division Core or its equivalents (with a combined GPA of 3.0 or better) may contact a full-time faculty member about the portfolio review process and/or to initiate a Change of Academic Objective from the BA to BFA major.

In addition to the minimum 81 units in art requirements for the BFA degree, students must meet the other university requirements for a bachelor’s degree.
