CSUF students who graduate and pursue any careers will need to market themselves to potential employers and will then likely work for either themselves, a business or an organization. A Marketing Minor is essential in all these situations. It teaches students: how to analyze and evaluate the industry and competition; how to choose a target customer and develop a marketing strategy to differentiate their product or service from the competition; how to understand what the customer wants/needs and how to quantify the opportunity; how to communicate with the customer to promote their product or service, in traditional (TV, radio, billboards, etc.) and digital media (websites, social media, etc.); how to distribute their product or service; how to price their product or service; how to ensure that customers are satisfied; and what data to collect and analyze about their customers and markets.
The Marketing Minor prepares students to successfully market themselves, their own business or a business or organization that they work for. By completing the minor, students will understand how to identify opportunities in the market, quantify them, promote them and ensure their success and long-term profitability.
Students must earn a “C” or better in all courses.
