History, philosophy, sociology of secondary education. Introduction to California Teaching Performance Expectations and Teaching Performance Assessment; needs of special populations, English learners, struggling readers; content standards and major curriculum reform documents. Includes 45 hours of observation in public schools on specific course requirements. May be repeated once for credit with consent of instructor.
