The University Honors Program provides highly motivated students the opportunity to enrich their undergraduate experience by taking a range of courses that encourages interdisciplinary approaches to critical thinking, scholarly inquiry and engaged citizenship. Honors seminars are small, discussion-based courses that meet General Education requirements and allow students to connect with peers who share a love of learning and want to be leaders and change-makers in their community. The culminating experience is a senior honors project that provides students the opportunity to develop a mentoring relationship with a faculty member and engage in student-faculty research, create an interdisciplinary portfolio or develop a creative project.
Honors students receive special advising, priority registration, access to the University Honors Center and opportunities to participate in workshops and events throughout the year to support their academic and personal development. Students also have the option of selecting the Honors-themed floor in the residence halls and participating in Honors study abroad programming.
Students who complete all program requirements and earn a 3.5 cumulative GPA will receive the University Honors Distinction on their university transcript and diploma.
