Bachelor of Arts in Art


The Bachelor of Arts degree offers concentrations in Art History, General Studio Art and Teaching. The program objectives are to provide correlative experiences, information and theory.

In addition to the requirements for the major, students must meet all other university requirements for a bachelor’s degree. Please consult the Graduation Requirements for the Bachelor’s Degree  section in this catalog for complete information. Students in the Teaching Concentration must also meet specific requirements for the desired teaching credential.

To earn a Bachelor of Arts in Art students must achieve a “C” (2.0) or better in all art courses required for the degree.

General Studio Art Concentration


The General Studio Art concentration is a varied curriculum that provides a broad education in the visual arts.

Art electives (6 units)


Select at least two courses from two of the following areas: ceramics, crafts, creative photography, drawing and painting, glass, entertainment art/animation, graphic design, illustration, printmaking and sculpture.

Upper Division (27 units)


Studio Area (12 units)


Select two courses from each of the following:

  • 2D image: courses in which created artworks are two-dimensional
  • 3D art: courses in which created artworks are three-dimensional

Electives (6 units)


Select two courses, in the same or different areas, from the following: ceramics, crafts, creative photography, drawing and painting, glass, entertainment art/animation, graphic design, illustration, printmaking and sculpture.

Total (120 units)
