Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics
The Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics requires 6165 units in the major, plus 51 units of General Education and 46 units of electives. Each course required for the major must be completed with a “C” (2.0) or better, and may not be taken on a Credit/No Credit basis.
Core Requirements (25 units)
Cognates (911 units)
Each student is required to complete one of the following cognates:
Actuarial Cognate (9 units)
And two of the following:
Or both of the following:
Computer Science Cognate (10 units)
Economics Cognate (9 units)
Information Systems and Decision Sciences Cognate (9 units)
Three from the following:
Physics Cognate (11 units)
Chemistry Cognate (10 units)
Civil Engineering Cognate (9 units)
Mathematics Cognate (9 units)
Three upperdivision courses in Mathematics from one of the four concentrations of the Mathematics major other than the student’s own concentration.
Research Cognate (9 units)
Computer Programming Requirement (3 units)
Writing Requirement
MATH 380 will satisfy the university’s upperdivision writing requirement for mathematics majors.
Additional Requirements (2123 units)
Complete one of four concentrations.
Probability and Statistics Concentration (23 units)
Plus one of the following:
