Mild to Moderate Support Needs Preliminary Education Specialist Credential

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the Mild to Moderate Support Needs Preliminary Education Specialist Credentials are required to apply to the university/program through the Cal State Apply website. Current CSUF undergraduate students still must submit a new Cal State Apply application to the program to be considered for admission into the Mild to Moderate Support Needs Preliminary Education Specialist Credential Program. Cal State Apply charges a $70 application fee. A separate department fee of $50 is also required. Applicants can pay for the $50 Department Fee online via https://coeapps.fullerton.edu/atedpay.

Applicants are considered for full admission into the Mild to Moderate Support Needs Preliminary Education Specialist Credential program once they have met the following criteria: completied the basic skills requirement; completed subject matter competency; and exhibited a professional aptitude and disposition. Additional criteria is reviewed when considering applicants to the program, which include:

• 2.5 cummulative GPA or 2.75 GPA in the last 60 units.
• Successfully completed the Special Education pre-requisites: SPED 322 , SPED 371  and SPED 425  (with a “C-” or better) and an approved Ethnic Studies Course.
