Bachelor of Arts in Art


The Bachelor of Arts degree offers concentrations in General Studio Art and Teaching. These programs provide opportunities for students to creatively express personal experience and thought with visual skill and clarity; develop knowledge and technical skills necessary to pursue advanced studies and to teach art; and to develop the expertise to become arts professionals.

In addition to the requirements for the major, students must meet all other university requirements for a bachelor’s degree. Please consult the Graduation Requirements for the Bachelor’s Degree  section in this catalog for complete information. Students in the Teaching Concentration must also meet specific requirements for the desired teaching credential.

To earn a Bachelor of Arts in Art students must achieve a “C” (2.0) or better in all art courses required for the degree.

General Studio Art Concentration


The General Studio Art concentration is a varied curriculum that provides a broad education in the visual arts. It is particularly appropriate for students interested in pursuing an art history degree or a K-12 teaching credential, or for those seeking a liberal arts experience with the emphasis placed upon developing a high degree of visual literacy.

Upper-Division Requirements (18 units)


Courses may not satisfy more than one area.

Art B.A. Concentration Electives


May be used in any of B.A. concentration.
