(120 UNITS)
The Bachelor of Arts in History provides a systematic study of the human past to discover meaning for people in the present. The program provides students with the opportunity to carry out research and share their findings in our award-winning journal and annual student research conference. Historians pay close attention to issues of context, difference, and process. Since everything and everybody have a history, historians are naturally inclined toward interdisciplinary work leading to such careers as: teachers and professors; archivists, librarians and museum curators; writers, journalists and publishers; associates and executives in businesses that require exceptional research, writing and people skills; administrators in many different fields; legal professionals, law enforcement officers and government officials; non-profit and volunteer organizers; and politicians and diplomats.
In addition to the requirements for the major, students must meet all other university requirements for a bachelor’s degree. Please consult the Graduation Requirements for the Bachelor’s Degree section in this catalog for complete information. A “C” (2.0) or better is required in all history courses applied towards the degree.
