Political Science Minor

The minor in political science is designed to complement other areas of study for which a focus on political systems and thought can be helpful (e.g., American Studies, business, communications, economics, history, identity studies, journalism and teaching). As part of the minor, students will explore introductory methods of studying of politics, as well as advanced concepts in American politics, cross-national politics and political theory.

Upper-Division Courses (12 units)


A minimum of one course in each of the following categories: American Politics, Cross-National Politics, Political Theory. The remaining three units may be taken from the afore-mentioned categories or any other upper-division political science course. One of the upper-division courses for the minor must be at the 400 level.

American Politics (3 units minimum)


Additional Information


Twelve units must be distinct from those used for a student’s first major.
