Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology


The B.S. in Kinesiology requires nine units of prerequisite courses and 51 units in the major, including nine units of foundation courses, 18 units of disciplinary core courses, a three-unit writing course and 21 units of concentration courses. All courses in the major, including prerequisites, must be completed with a “C” (2.0) or better, and must be taken on an Option 1 (letter grade) basis. Kinesiology courses with the “junior or senior standing” prerequisite require students to have completed a minimum of 55 units. Intercollegiate sport courses may be completed with the Credit/No Credit option.

* May only be used in one performance area.

Students in the Teacher Education concentration must substitute KNES 240 , KNES 241 , KNES 242  and KNES 243  for the Performance Courses requirements (see the Teacher Education concentration for details).

Requirements for the Major


Recreation, Fitness and Health Promotion Concentration (21 units)


Provides knowledge and practical experience supporting careers in areas such as recreation, fitness instruction, corporate fitness, work site health promotion, and older adult fitness and wellness. Prepares students for advanced study in recreation, fitness and health promotion. Students in this concentration must choose between the fitness and health promotion area, or the recreation area.
