Information Technology, Data Science Concentration, M.S.

(30 UNITS)

The Information Technology, Data Science Concentration master’s program provides students with knowledge, skills and experience in data processing and analytics in the context of business. Students will learn to articulate strategies and methods that allow for the effective use and management of data storage and analytics within an organization.

Admission Requirements

Students must meet the CSU requirements for admission to a master’s degree program. Please consult the Graduate Admissions section in this catalog for complete information. In addition, applicants will be evaluated based on the following:

  • Minimum of 2 years practical experience in a functional area of business
  • Minimum score of 530 on the GMAT or a scaled score of 530 on the GRE
  • Submission of a written self-assessment explaining why they believe they would be a good candidate for the program
  • Successful passage of a phone or face-to-face interview designed to assess their level of technology knowledge, skills and abilities to be an online learner
  • Proficiency in office productivity tools using a personal computer and knowledge and experience in utilizing Internet-based systems
  • For international students, a TOEFL score of 570 on the paper exam is required

Study Plan

Students will be required to complete a weekend orientation session (Boot-up Camp) prior to the beginning of the program.

Core Courses (15 units)

MPORTANT: students must obtain department approval to enroll in ISDS 540 or ISDS 505, and ISDS 415 or ISDS 557.

Concentration Courses (12 units)

Capstone Course (3 units)

Must be taken in the last semester.
