Students who meet requirements set by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and the Single Subject Intern Program, and have Subject Area Coordinator approval may enter the Intern Program in the second semester of the Single Subject Credential program. Upon receiving an approved teaching position in a public secondary school, students obtain an Intern Credential, which entitles them to teach in a public school while taking their coursework at CSUF in the late afternoon, evenings or on the weekends. The curriculum of the program is a multi-semester experience, including prerequisites, pre-service coursework and fieldwork teaching. Support is provided by an assigned site mentor and a university supervisor on an ongoing basis throughout the Intern Program.
