Introduction

Marketing is understanding what customers want and creating products and services that have value for individuals and society. It combines creativity, psychology, strategy, research and analytics. Marketers lead all businesses in satisfying market needs in a sustainable and ethical manner. It is a vital function for organizations and is a popular career path in the business, government and nonprofit sectors.

Every organization needs marketing to understand and deliver superior products and services to their customers. Thus, marketing is compatible with any business career or industry. For example, marketing graduates can have successful careers in brand management with consumer product companies; conduct market research for tech companies; sell pharmaceuticals for drug companies; or promote the services of charitable organizations. Students can focus on areas such as digital marketing, social media marketing, advertising and promotions, global marketing, marketing analytics, brand management, sales and marketing strategy. This flexibility makes it particularly appealing for students at the beginning of their professional careers. Prospective employers are most receptive to Cal State Fullerton’s marketing graduates, valuing their creative problem-solving abilities, computer technology expertise, interpersonal communication skills, and overall business acumen.

The department prepares students to be marketing leaders by developing a fundamental understanding of marketing functions and mastering the necessary skill sets. It bring state-of-the-art concepts and practices to the classroom, including use of cutting-edge technology for design, research, analysis and customer service.
