Introduction

The Finance concentration includes five advisory tracks to assist students in selecting their coursework.

• The corporate and international financial management track prepares students for careers in corporate finance, with both domestic and international firms. Finance is a core business function at all firms since both financial and non-financial corporations need to effectively manage their assets and liabilities.  Jobs may include financial analyst, budget analyst, and similar titles.
• The investments and financial planning track prepares students for careers in wealth management.  Professionals use their knowledge of tax and investment strategies, securities markets, insurance, retirement plans, and real estate to develop financial plans and manage portfolios for both individuals and businesses.  Students may elect to become Certified Financial Planners or work, for example, in the mutual funds industry.
• The insurance and financial services track prepares students for careers in insurance and related financial services fields. Insurance helps individuals and businesses manage risks of all types.  Career paths may include underwriting, brokerage, actuarial science, asset management, customer service, claims adjusting, financial planning, and sales.
• The financial institutions track prepares students for careers in commercial and investment banking.  Jobs in commercial banking may include credit analyst, loan officer, branch manager, trust officer, and mortgage banker. Investment banks help companies and governments engage with capital markets, issue securities, and provide financial advice.
• The real estate track is designed to prepare students for careers in the real estate sector, both residential and commercial.  Professionals are employed in fields such as brokerage, leasing, development, title insurance, mortgage banking, property management, valuation, and corporate real estate.
