African American Resource Center

The African American Resource Center provides resources, services, programs and events that focus on the total integration and success of African American students and community. Originally established in 2005, the center focuses on community building within the African/Black diaspora at CSU Fullerton, academic excellence, social justice education, leadership development and identity development. It serves as a tool for empowerment of the diverse segments of the University population through increased accessibility to the scholarly research of African American Studies faculty, cultural awareness/education, and collaborative activities. The center also hosts a range of presentations, programs and workshops that cover diverse topics including navigating the University, intersections of identity and leadership development and serves to connect students to various campus resources (Financial Aid, Study Abroad, Academic Advising, Career Services, CAPS, etc.).  The center seeks to serve the various needs of students and also provides computers, printing capabilities, couches, a refrigerator and a microwave that is available to all.

Anthropology Museum

The Museum of Anthropology is an educational and research resource for the University and the community. It houses, sponsors and conducts a variety of activities as part of the CSUF Anthropology program, from lecture series to exhibits. Exhibits in the museum have included artifacts from California, the Middle East, Mesoamerica, the Southwest and Oceania.

The Asian Pacific American Resource Center (APARC) strives to unify and empower its community by serving as an academic and creative home for its students, staff and faculty, as well as its external community links. The center seeks to foster the holistic development of its Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community through caring, culturally responsive theory-driven practices, and by encouraging the engagement of the campus AAPI community, resource centers, affiliated partnerships, community leaders, and allies whose reach may extend statewide, nationally and internationally. Resources include career advising; mentoring support; co-curricular engagement opportunities; and workshops and programs that cover a wide range of topics including navigating the University, AAPI community, intersections of identity and leadership development.

Nicholas & Lee Begovich Gallery

Since 1963, the Lee & Nicholas Begovich Gallery at California State University, Fullerton has presented exhibitions and produced corresponding publications that have made substantive scholarly contributions to the field of visual arts and culture. The Begovich Gallery fosters cross-disciplinary interaction and study, and its exhibitions function as instructional tools that inspire and challenge students and faculty. The highly publicized gallery projects represent the most visible and direct bridge between the Art Department and the broader community. The gallery has earned international recognition for its Museum Studies and Exhibition Design graduate program, a cross-disciplinary program that provides students with practical and conceptual experience.

The Chicana and Chicano Resource Center (CRC) was originally established in 1972 as a specially funded project to develop the University’s collection on Mexico and the Southwest. The mission of the Chicana/o Resource Center (CRC) at California State Fullerton is to provide a learning environment for students, faculty, staff and the broader community that is inclusive and fosters the history, education, and culture of Chicanas and Chicanos and Latinos. The CRC serves as a home away from home, provides programs, and connects students with resources and community.

Clayes Performing Arts Center

Clayes Performing Arts Center is an impressive complex of state-of-the-art facilities for performance and instruction, and is home to the School of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance. Each year, the School of Music produces over 100 student ensemble performances, guest artist recitals, master classes, and clinics, many of which take place in the 800-seat Vaughncille Joseph Meng Concert Hall, which has been lauded for its outstanding acoustics. The School of Music also presents an annual fully staged opera in the center’s Recital Hall. The Young, Hallberg, and Little Theatres host the award-winning Department of Theatre and Dance’s annual season of plays, musicals, and dance performances for the University and surrounding community. CSUF’s department is ranked as one of the best in the nation and is often represented at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and the American College Dance Festival.

Cal State Fullerton’s Daily Titan is recognized as one of the best college newspapers in the United States.

In recent years, the Daily Titan reporters, editors, photographers, videographers, designers and online producers have won dozens of awards from the Associated Collegiate Press, College Media Association, Columbia Scholastic Press Association, Society of News Design, Society of Professional Journalists, the Los Angeles Press Club and California College Media Association.

The Daily Titan is an independent student media outlet that publishes in print Monday through Thursday during the academic year with online updates at http://www.dailytitan.com/.

The Daily Titan serves an audience of 38,000 students and more than 4,000 faculty, staff and administrators.

Daily Titan editorial staff members receive extensive hands-on experience in reporting, writing, editing, copyediting, photography, multimedia, web production and social media.

Cal State Fullerton students also comprise the award-winning Daily Titan advertising staff. They promote the Daily Titan and design and sell ads that financially support the news and advertising operations.

Fullerton Arboretum

The Fullerton Arboretum, a 26-acre botanical garden, is located on the northeast corner of campus. The gardens contain plants from around the world.

The recirculating waterfall, streams and ponds are a focal point for migratory waterfowl and visitors from the University and surrounding communities. The Arboretum is an island of serenity in an increasingly metropolitan environment.

The Arboretum also offers opportunities to study local history and culture at the Heritage House and the Orange County Agriculture and Nikkei Heritage Museum. Heritage House is the restored residence and medical office of Dr. George C. Clark, an Orange County pioneer physician. The Clark home was built in 1894 and exemplifies the Eastlake Victorian style of architecture. The Orange County Agriculture and Nikkei Heritage Museum displays exhibits that tell the story of Orange County’s early agrarian days. Both are open to the public on weekends and weekdays by reservation.

The CSUF Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) contributes monies each year to hire students to help in the maintenance and operation of the Arboretum.

The Fullerton Arboretum is open 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., seven days a week. The Arboretum is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. For more information, visit fullertonarboretum.org.

Grand Central Art Center

The City of Santa Ana and California State University, Fullerton formed an innovative relationship in 1993 to create the University’s Grand Central Art Center, located in downtown Santa Ana in the heart of the Artists Village. The center, which opened in spring 1999, is housed in a block-long, 45,000-square-foot facility. The $7.5-million renovation of the historic 1924 building was a joint venture designed to bring together art, education and the community. Grand Central Art Center provides a setting for our graduate students to live, learn and work in a socially engaged and creative community of artists. In addition to studio and living space for students, the art center houses galleries and exhibition spaces, a black-box theater, gallery store, and café. The center’s 83-seat black-box theater presents lectures, film series, panel discussions and productions by the University’s award-winning Department of Theatre and Dance. In addition, the international Artist-in-Residence Program provides the opportunity for professional artists from around the world to live and work at the center while engaging directly with CSUF graduate students and the community.

Herbarium

The Fay A. MacFadden Herbarium is named after Fay A. MacFadden, who sold her extensive collection of plants to the University just prior to her death in 1964. The collection now includes more than 25,000 vascular plants, about 12,000 bryophytes and nearly 800 lichen specimens. The plants are used as research and teaching tools.

Mathematics Tutoring Center

The Mathematics Tutoring Center is available on a drop-in basis to all students enrolled in a mathematics class. Tutors are trained to help students understand the basic concepts necessary to complete homework assignments and to perform well on exams. The center is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until noon during the fall and spring semesters. The Mathematics Tutoring Center is directed by Jolene Fleming.

Modern Language Media Center

The newly renovated Media Center features a 24-station and a 16-station Tandberg-300 computer lab with multimedia capabilities that instructors can use to facilitate individual and group learning activities. All computers are connected to a private server and the Internet, where students can access a wide variety of language learning programs, as well as authentic language materials of the countries and languages they are studying.

Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic

The Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic is an integral part of the University’s curricular programs leading to a B. A. and M. A. in Communicative Disorders (CD) within the Department of Human Communication Studies. It has been in operation since 1961 providing speech, language and hearing services to the community while simultaneously supporting the academic training of students pursuing careers in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology. 

As part of their clinical training, graduate students enrolled in the CD program provide speech-language and hearing services under the clinical supervision of highly qualified, licensed, and certified CD program PhD faculty and other speech-language-hearing professionals with extensive professional and supervisory experience. CD undergraduate students must also complete a number of clinical observation hours within the clinic and regular classroom setting as part of their training.

The clinic, which shares space with the Center for Children Who Stutter, a non-profit organization, houses several therapy/observation rooms, clinical staff offices, and specialized clinic research and training labs where faculty and students work together on a variety of different clinical research activities including a:  1) Parkinson’s research lab, 2) Augmentative/Alternative Communication training lab, 3) Speech Acoustics Lab, 4) Voice Lab, and 5) Multicultural Resources Lab that contains training resources for working with culturally-linguistically diverse client populations.  The clinic also has an Audiology Suite that can be used for assessing the hearing of clients receiving services within the clinic and as part of community outreach activities involving programs such as the Osher Life Long Learning Institute (OLLI).

Student Success Center for Science and Mathematics Students

The Student Success Center for Science and Mathematics provides resources for students to enhance their on-campus experience, such as computers, printers, a photocopy machine and basic office supplies. The center offers free tutoring services for biology, physics and chemistry courses. Additionally, there are tables for individual and group study sessions, as well as a conference space that can be reserved for meetings.

The center is home to key members of the CNSM Student Success Team, including the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, the graduation specialist, and the retention specialist, who are available for advisement on campus policies, academic success skills and resource referrals. The CNSM Career Specialist also holds weekly drop-in advising hours in the center and can provide assistance with resume building, and career and graduate school exploration. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.

Theatre and Dance Department Production

The award-winning Department of Theatre and Dance produces a full subscription season of exciting plays, musicals and dance theatre for the University and surrounding community. Broadway musicals, operas, original plays, cabaret performances and graduate student project productions are just a few of the ongoing offerings. CSUF’s department is ranked as one of the best in the nation and often is represented at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and other venues through the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and the American College Dance Festival.

Titan Communications is the California State University Fullerton’s digital media production center, which provides students with high impact practices and activities and acts as a living, learning classroom that provides opportunities to work and learn about television and radio broadcast production, management and leadership in a professional hands-on environment.

This media facility produces a wide range of TV and radio content including Titan Internet Radio, Titan Television, CSUF video magazine shows, and news programs created by students.  These programs are streamed online and distributed via live broadcast to cable channels in Orange County.  In addition to these programs, Titan Communications produces a variety of internal and external University communications, training and documentation projects.

Under faculty and staff supervision, Titan Communications gives students a variety of opportunities for developing creative and technical skills, gaining practical hands-on experience and creating electronic portfolios. This active learning environment provides students with the necessary tools to thrive in today’s challenging media job market. Students may work in Titan Communications on class or co-curricular projects, instructional-related activities, serve as volunteers, or work as paid staff in connection with student media groups or commissioned projects.

The Titan Dreamers Resource Center (TDRC) provides undocumented (AB 540, AB 2000, DACAmented, Dreamer, and unprotected) students with academic and emotional support, information on programs and services designed to improve retention and graduation rates, and a comforting environment where students can connect with one another.  Resources include career advising; assistance with completing the AB 540 and AB 2000 Affidavit, California DREAM Act Application for Financial Aid, and applying for scholarships for which they are fully eligible; mentoring support; co-curricular engagement opportunities; and workshops and programs that cover a wide range of topics including navigating the University, intersections of identity, and leadership development.

Titan Shops is a division of CSU Fullerton Auxiliary Services Corporation, a non-profit auxiliary organization promoting and assisting the University community through services and support. At Titan Shops our mission is to provide one-stop shopping, excellent customer service, and quality products at competitive prices.

The Course Materials department is located on the second floor of Titan Shops and carries requested textbooks and custom course packets, as well as general and reference books. Choose from new and used or save up to 65 percent with digital and rental options. Students can compare prices on course material from their textbook list through the Titan Shops website and shop with confidence knowing that prices are backed with a low price guarantee. Students can special order any title at no extra charge. The Course Materials department also offers printing and binding services for projects, thesis and dissertations.

Titan Tech & Supply provides art, office and school supplies, along with peripherals and software. Partnering with Campus IT and academic departments, Titan Tech developed the Let Your Major Be Your Guide Program, giving students an appropriate and accurate computer recommendation. As a Dell reseller and Apple Authorized Campus Store, Titan Tech is able to offer students a complete line of products with a convenient location to explore and purchase the latest technology at discounted prices. Titan Tech also offers a trade-in program and is an on-site Apple-Certified Repair Center.

Titan Gear offers CSUF gifts, clothing, and features a selection of American Greeting and Papyrus cards. Titan Gear also provides all graduation products from caps and gowns to class rings and announcements.

Titan Shops offers several convenience store locations for students on the go. These locations are stocked with test-taking materials, school supplies, health and beauty aids, and a wide selection of snacks and drinks. Visit the Titan Express in the main bookstore, The Brief Stop in Langsdorf Hall or The Yum in the Titan Student Union. There is also Shop 24, an automated store, offering drinks, snacks, sandwiches, and more. Located between Humanities and the Education Classroom Buildings, Shop24 accepts cash and debit/credit cards.

Additionally, Titan Shops provides two vending machines filled with last-minute test-taking material. These machines are located on the first floor of College Park and the second floor of Mihaylo Hall.

Titan Shops at the Irvine Campus offers food, course materials, school supplies, testing materials, gifts and apparel. For your convenience, online orders can be delivered to the Irvine bookstore for pick-up.

Titan Shops has two bank branches located inside the store, US Bank and SchoolsFirst Credit Union, which offer a full range of financial products and services.

Writing Center

The Writing Center provides tutoring for students from across campus who are seeking assistance with writing assignments or with improving their writing process in general. Tutors offer individual appointments and special-topic workshops designed to help students write clear, concise academic prose. Tutors also work with students on developing techniques for improving their grammar usage and editing skills. The goal of the Writing Center is to increase students’ writing competence in both their current and future University classes.
