What an honor it is to work at and lead this remarkable institution. As we often say, “Titans Reach Higher,” and this site is replete with evidence that the educational programs, facilities, faculty, staff and students services we offer are uniquely designed to elevate your academic experience beyond what even you thought possible. We are proud that our campus community reflects the changing face of the nation, and I am confident that the diversity and cross-cultural perspectives of our faculty, staff, and students will enrich your learning experience, prepare you to succeed in a global society, and empower you to “reach higher” in all that you do.
Our eight colleges offer 109 high-caliber degree programs, including 52 master’s degrees and two doctorates. With full accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission (WASC), many of our degree programs are further distinguished by national accreditations and associations, accomplished alumni, and award-winning faculty who take a personal interest in their students’ success. To that end, we hope you participate in what we like to call “HIPs” (High-Impact Practices), which are curricular and co-curricular experiences designed to engage you in your studies through active, collaborative, and experiential learning - both in and out of the classroom. In other words, seek out ways to join a research project, compete in a student competition, study abroad, perform community service, land an internship, go to a Titan athletic event - whatever keeps you engaged and propels you on this wonderful journey towards commencement.
Lastly, I ask you to remember that this is your University experience, and we are here to assist you to “reach higher” in every way possible. With this in mind, I encourage you to determine your graduation date, write it down on a piece of paper, and place it prominently where you see it every day - then let us know how we can support you in reaching that date with your newly conferred degree in hand!
