(120 UNITS)

The Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry is a rigorous and contemporary curriculum that is responsive to future developments, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature and diversity of the chemical sciences, thus enabling students to become successful professionals, scholars, scientifically literate citizens and leaders. The curriculum provides a strong background in the fundamental areas of chemistry and also in biochemistry. Special emphasis is placed on an authentic research experience, preparing students for scientific careers, science education, advanced degrees (M.S., Ph.D.) or professional programs. The degree is commonly pursued by students interested in pre-professional programs (e.g., forensic science, business administration, law), those interested in teaching careers and alternatives in chemistry.

In addition to the requirements for the major, students must meet all other university requirements for a bachelor’s degree. Please consult the Graduation Requirements for the Bachelor’s Degree  section in this catalog for complete information.
