General Requirements

All enrolled cadets will take courses corresponding to their academic standing in order to remain academically aligned.

Cadet Initial Entry Training

The Cadet Initial Entry Training (CIET) is four weeks of classroom and field training held during the summer at Fort Knox, KY. This course is an accelerated version of the two years of leadership development training cadets receive in the Basic Course. By transforming themselves through this rigorous training, cadets will qualify for enrollment in Advanced Army ROTC on campus - provided they have two years of college remaining (undergraduate or graduate). This course is for those who did not participate in military science during their freshman and sophomore years. It is not Army basic training and there are no drill sergeants.

Cadet Leadership Course

Every Army ROTC cadet who enters into the Advanced Course attends the Cadet Leadership Course (CLC) at Ft. Knox, Ky. This course normally takes place between the junior and senior years of college and is the most important training event for an Army ROTC cadet. The 29-day training event incorporates a wide range of subjects designed to develop and evaluate leadership ability. The challenges are rigorous and demanding, both mentally and physically. CLC tests intelligence, common sense, ingenuity and stamina. These challenges provide a new perspective on an individual’s ability to perform exacting tasks and to make difficult decisions in demanding situations.
