Bachelor of Science in Child and Adolescent Development


The Bachelor of Science in Child and Adolescent Development requires 51 units of major coursework. All majors complete 27 units of core courses. In addition, majors choose one of four options that each include 24 units of coursework. The options allow students to focus on the population and context in which they are interested: Adolescent/Youth Development; Early Childhood Development; Elementary School Settings; and Family and Community Contexts.

A “C” (2.0) or better is required in all courses applied to the major. Course prerequisites are strictly enforced.

Option in Family and Community Contexts (24 units)


The option Family and Community Contexts (FCC) is designed for students planning to work with children, adolescents, and their families in community-based settings and/or preparing for graduate studies in human/child development, counseling, social work or related fields.
